Kings of Leon were created by Nathan, Caleb, and Jared Followill. Caleb and Jared were both born in Tennessee, while Nathan was born in Oklahoma City. All three brothers got used to the tour life early, following their preacher father across the Deep South. To accompany him, they were taught to play drums and guitar at an early age. They were raised in a strictly religious home, but their minister father would play the Rolling Stones, Band Company and Neil Young when their mother was absent. Over time, Jared taught himself to play bass, and in 2005 and 2006, they toured with U2, Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam. Their album, Because of the Times, was launched in 2007, and this marked a change to a more polished sound. Their fourth album, Only By the Night, launched the song “Sex On Fire”, which won them a Grammy at the 51 Grammy Awards Ceremony in February 2009. At the Brit Awards in 2009, they were given the Best International Band and Best International Album. In December 2008, Elton John paid them tribute by stating that they were“…an outstanding band of our time”. See exactly why he paid them this compliment when they come to your area!
